In John chapter nine, we read the story of Jesus healing the
man born blind. This is story is both instructive and inspirational. Jesus
tells the disciples that the man was born blind, not because of his sin, or
that of his parents. But he was born blind so that the “works of God might be
displayed”. Now this is a challenging concept for many of us to accept. The
fact that God allows certain things which are bad, in order to magnify the
“good” of God’s glory! But this information should be encouraging, especially
to those who are perhaps facing difficulty today.
The Bible is clear in the
truth that God is good, so all that He does is good, even when it may not
appear that way from our perspective. Remember that God’s perspective is
greater than our own. By definition God knows more than we do. And in this
instance the power of God through Jesus was put on display for all to see. Like
the man born blind, all of us were born sinners, rebellious against God, in
need of divine intervention. At the cross, Jesus intervened on our behalf,
saving us from the wrath of God, receiving the justice that we deserve.
Thankfully we received mercy instead.
This is good news! Jesus is King, Lord, and God! He is worthy of are
praise. As the multitudes shouted “Hosanna”, we too can rejoice in the power of
His majesty. It is my prayer today that all of you will know that the purpose
of our existence as children of God is to display His works and His glory.
Let’s rejoice together today in the greatness of our God!
