Put fear under His feet!

The fifth sign that Jesus performed is found in John six, and follows immediately the miraculous feeding of the 5000. After that powerful miracle the crowd was ready to make Jesus a king. So Jesus retreated to mountain to pray and sent his disciples to the other side of the Sea of Galilee. That is when disaster struck! About three to four miles into their journey, a fierce storm began to rage. Isn’t amazing that on the heels of this powerful miracle, the disciples experienced this intense storm.

Often we find ourselves in the same position as the disciples. We witness the miraculous and then disaster comes into our lives. This can lead to discouragement and disillusionment if we allow it to do so.

But thankfully Jesus did not leave his disciples in the storm; He came walking to them on the sea! He didn’t leave them and He won’t leave us in the storm.

When the disciples saw Jesus walking on the sea, they became frightened, and it was then that Jesus spoke to them some of the most comforting words in all of Scripture. “It is I; do not be afraid.”

Fear is what often motivates us more than any other emotion. But Jesus is greater than our fears. John reports that when Jesus got on board, immediately they were at their destination. Jesus being “on board” our lives has a way of calming the rough seas and getting us safely to our destination. My encouragement for you today is to put your trust in the only one who has all of your fears “under His feet”, his name is Jesus and today we should continue to worship the Miraculous Messiah!
