Feeling in valid?

The third sign Jesus performs is found in John chapter five. It is the healing of the invalid man at the pool of Bethesda. It was believed that an angel troubled the pool and the first to get into the water would be made well. The Bible reports that this invalid man had been waiting by the side of pool for thirty-eight years waiting for his opportunity to be healed. When Jesus approached him, the man expressed his frustration to the Lord, “Sir, I have no one to put me in the pool when the water is stirred up, and while I’m going another steps down before me.” This invalid man had bought into this local superstition that there was a healing element to the pool, and perhaps there was some therapeutic value, but it was of no value to him because he couldn’t get into the pool.

Like this man there are many who have been rendered invalid (in valid) by sin and disappointment. But the good news of the gospel of Christ is that Jesus is a miracle worker. And it doesn’t matter how long we may struggle in our sin, when Jesus sets us free we are free indeed! John 5:8-9 reveals, “Jesus said to him, “Get up, take up your bed, and walk.” And at once the man was healed, and he took up his bed and walked.” Jesus solved thirty-eight years of suffering at once. And He still does! As we move through our text today, it is my prayer that all of you will be encouraged to know that no matter what has been hindrance to you receiving from God what you need to receive, that today “at once” Jesus can and will deliver you!
